Fr. Jeffrey Kirby - Mary's Battle For You & Your Family - IHM Talk Notes

Have you seen Father on Facebook?  He's on TAN's page  every day with a 3 minute daily homily! At the IHM National Catholic Parenting & Homeschool Conference,  Fr. Kirby had some reminders regarding our Blessed Mother.

*  God wasn’t caught off guard.  Mary was always in the plan.

*  Both Eve and Mary were virgins that spoke to an angel.  The snake in the garden was Lucifer, a fallen angel. Mary spoke to the angel Gabriel.

*  Mary was not just a mother, but a disciple.  That’s why she was there to receive the tongues of fire on Pentecost The Holy Spirit fell upon her not for the priesthood, but as the mother of the Church.

*  She’s a bridge to help, not a barrier. We need her because Jesus did.

*  We were made for worship, if not God then something else.

To hear this talk in its entirety, on and after August 1st  you can find  audio of it HERE, along with other talks from this 2-day Catholic homeschooling/parenting conference.

Fr. Jeffrey Kirby, STD, is a Catholic priest of the Diocese of Charleston, South Carolina. He shepherds two parishes in north-central South Carolina. He holds a doctorate in moral theology from the Holy Cross University in Rome and a Master of Arts in Philosophy from the Franciscan University of Steubenville. Father Kirby serves as an Adjunct Professor of Theology at Belmont Abbey College and has authored several books, including Lord, Teach Us to Pray (2014), 101 Surprising Facts about St. Peter’s and the Vatican (2015), The Life and Witness of St. Maria Goretti (2015), and Doors of Mercy: A Journey Through Salvation History (2016).

Fr. Kirby seeks to live and exercise his priestly ministry in such a way as to exemplify the positive role religion can play in society, as well as to highlight the mutual service that both Church and State can render to one another. In this effort, Father Kirby works to apply and teach the spiritual patrimony of the Catholic Church and the overall contribution of the human spirit to the human narrative.

As such efforts have led to the formation of consciences and development of leadership in the public forum, Father Kirby was recognized by Governor Nikki Haley and granted the Order of the Palmetto, South Carolina’s highest civilian honor.

Father Kirby is the weekly spirituality contributor for the e-journal “Crux: Taking the Catholic Pulse,” as well as the author of a bi-monthly Q-and-A column carried by “The Catholic Miscellany.” He is a friend to Catholic media, and has been on EWTN, CatholicTV, and Salt and Light. Father Kirby has also been on the BBC, NPR, and ABC to discuss various issues relating to the Church.

Working with St. Benedict Press and Catholic Scripture Study International, Father Kirby was the Host of the national Christian formation program Doors of Mercy and was one of the co-instructors of Luke: The Gospel of Mercy. Both programs presented the Gospel message through a creative use of videography, lay-out design, and live-streaming.

Father Kirby grew up in a military family in West Germany, attended seminary at the Pontifical North American College in Rome, served in the Army National Guard, has run two marathons, and crossed the Atlantic Ocean twice by ship.
