Purgatory & Praying For The Holy Souls
This is a special time of year to pray for our dearly departed. In fact, there are graces attached to visiting a cemetery and praying for the Holy Souls.
The souls in Purgatory are assured of salvation. They've died
in God's grace and friendship, and will end up in heaven. But they're not yet
in a full state of holiness — the holiness that's necessary to behold God
"face to face" in heaven. (Catechism,
1030)
Judgment awaits us all. Do we think about that enough? The FEWness of the saved?
Purgatory is like a purifying fire burning inside a person, a
painful experience of regret for one's sins, Pope Benedict XVI said. "A soul stained by sin cannot present
itself to God,"
Pray for the dead and the dead will pray for you.
Eternal
Father, by virtue of your generosity and love, I ask that you accept all my
actions and that you multiply their value in favor of every soul in Purgatory.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Oh, this is so good!! I have a purgatory post in my head. It's especially on my heart and mind because of my grandma just passing end of September. This is the 2nd year I'm having homeschoolers over after our first Friday Mass for homemade soup, pumpkin bars and a walk in the graveyard behind our home....hoping for lots of indulgences!
Love and blessings
