Coffee, Prayer, Catholics
In the morning, before the kids wake up...in the quiet....I pray with my coffee.
I think coffee and Catholics just go together! Seeing the black coffee, to which I add a stripe of lacey, white cream, reminds me of the priestly garments. As the heat rises in steam, it resembles the incense that lifts our prayers to God.
Psalm 141:2 Let my prayer be directed as incense in thy sight; the lifting up of my hands, as evening sacrifice.
And while lifting up my hands that cup my beloved java is no sacrifice, I am grateful for the imagery it invokes and the call to prayer as I start my day.

You do provide great imagery. My coffee cup is just a plain ol'ugly coffee thermos. Your coffee cup is pretty.
What beautiful poetry you write! Your imagery was beautiful!!! I've never look at my morning coffee (or tea) the same way again!!!
Hello there, Allison...I have "seen" you around and had to stop by. And I am quite glad I did! I have enjoyed reading through your beautiful place here, and am inspired already! Have a wonderful afternoon! : )
