Radiating Calm Before the Firing Squad ~ Fr. Francisco Vera

Saw this image on Facebook today and I was struck by the calm. The dear priest trusts in Christ! I was compelled to find out more about him. I googled THIS, "he died in his armor." (Hanky alert)

This is why I love saints! Their courage...beyond worldly understanding...how radical is radical enough for Christ?

Many, if not most of our saints died for love of Christ...often as horrifically as this. May their blood instruct us and may we never question even an article of the faith that they were willing to GIVE THEIR LIVES for....

This is Father Francisco Vera, he was executed by firing squad for saying public Mass in Mexico.

"Viva Cristo Rey! y Viva La Virgen de Guadalupe!"

This is what you would hear emitting from the mouths of the Martyrs during this time in México.

After a history such as this one, it is truly a sad, sorry, and shameful that the political representatives have passed such heinous laws against God and against Life.

Thank you for sharing. And may we all have the courage to Fight the Good Fight ♥

God Love You ♥

Was he the priest that was executed in the new For Greater Glory film? Great movie!

Hi Tiphany,

This photo is of Father Francisco Vera. In the movie, For Greater Glory, the elderly priest who is executed and played by actor, Peter O'Toole is named Father Christopher. No doubt MANY priests were among those martyred for the faith during the time of the Cristeros.

The movie and their stories are so touching in their suffering, sacrifice and love of Christ.
