His Time Machine

10:29 PM

And my son said tonight at dinner, reflecting back on his weekend, "If I had a time machine I would keep setting it back to the days of my First Confession and First Holy Communion to live them again."

My youngest son made his First Holy Communion on Pentecost Sunday. On Friday, he made his First Confession with our homeschool pastor. He had been feeling a little sick but as soon as he came out of the confessional he was all business about saying his penance and then so angelic, hugging us all with joy. Christ's Sacrament of forgiveness truly is healing.

This was the first Sacrament one of our children has made in the Extraordinary Form and the high, sung Mass with incense was so lovely. Our Latin Mass Pastor had the parents and Communicant come to the high altar to kneel for the Eucharist and I will never forget looking over to my son as he tilted his head back and received Our Lord....my tears spilled. They have for every first Communion....what else compares to having Christ within you!

Afterwards, again, he was so celebratory and empowered. Our parish had a party in the hall for the 3 boys, pictures were taken. Then 14 relatives traveled to our house for a lovely, temperate day. My son led the table blessing in Latin and asked that we sing Holy God we Praise Thy Name before we cut the cake.

May he always be this in love with Our Lord....

How awesome! I get all teary at First Communion and First Confession as well - well, and now Confirmation! Isn't it wonderful how they just SMILE from ear to ear - even their eyes lighting up? Francis received his First Holy Communion almost 3 weeks ago, and each time (we attend daily Mass some days) he looks at me and beams. And we all have smiles after Confession too. We're so blessed to have the Sacraments!
Thanks for sharing - and as usual your photos are incredible too :)

Thanks friends!

Jamie, if you import your pics into www.photobucket.com you can do some artsy stuff with them....like turn them into a colored pencil drawing.

Wonderful! Congratulations to your son! What a glorious day, and how precious were his responses to receiving the sacraments! My 1st grader cannot wait to receive her First Holy Communion. She talks about it all.the.time! We attended our parish's First Communion Mass this year, as we know several of the children who were receiving the sacrament, and I was so emotional, and they weren't even my children! I can't imagine when MY kids are the ones who are receiving. I am sure tears will be flowing from my eyes, too ... Oooh! I can't wait to be witness to such a beautiful sight!
