Something About Mary ~ Our Lady of the Highways

Today we travel to join my family in a mini family vacation. My brother and his family will be hosting my family, my Mom and Dad, my sister and grandmother. We'll be enjoying the beauty of the Northern Neck of Virginia and the Corrotoman river. I should have lots of pictures to share when we return!

It's a LONG drive and so we'll start with this prayer to Our Lady.

Prayer to Our Lady of the Highway
O Lady of the Highway, be with us on our journey, for all your ways are beautiful and all your paths are peace. O God, who with unspeakable providence does rule and govern the world, grant unto us, your servants, through the intercessions of our watchful mother, to be protected from all danger and brought safely to the end of our journey. Amen.

Have a wonderful trip! This picture brings back memories. We passed it on the way home to my mom's when we lived in Maryland. Blessings.

I first saw this statue as we drove up I-95 to move to Delaware from Arizona twenty years ago next Oct. I can't describe the wonderful feeling of coming home that it gave me although I grew up all over the country and spent my early adulthood in AZ. I have also developed the habit of asking St. Michael and the Holy Souls for their protection every time we get in the car, thanks to the example of the brothers and sisters of the Alliance of the Two Hearts in Dover. Thanks for posting such lovely art and other images for us to associate with the inspiring words you share from the saints and other writers.
