A Prayer Focus for Each Day of the Week

Ways to focus each day in prayer, giving each day a special assignment...

SUNDAY - is like Easter, spend it together. Think about the Gospel of the day. Pray for Priests and their success. Pray that prodigals return home.

Gracious Father, reach down from on high. Rescue ____ from deep water and set ____ free (Psalm 144:7-8)

MONDAY - Angels, say guardian angel prayers, pray that St. Michael defend you in battle. Pray for the souls in purgatory.

Precious Redeemer, it is Your desire that none should perish; please bring ____ to repentance/Salvation. (2 Peter 3:9)

TUESDAY - traditional to honor the Apostles, pray to St. Anne. Memorize the names of the Apostles. Choose a favorite and ask them to intercede for our priests.

Pray that you and/or your priest follow Christ like the Apostles, Gracious Lord, you are the Light of the world. May ___ follow You and never walk in darkness but in the light of life. (John 8 :12)

WEDNESDAY - traditional to honor St. Joseph, the patron of a happy death, and so to pray for all those sick and dying.

Pray also for protection, as St. Joseph was chosen by God to protect Jesus and Mary. Merciful Savior, You are faithful. I pray that You will strengthen and protect ____ from the evil one (2 Thessalonians 3 :3)

THURSDAY - the Holy Eucharist, and conversions of unbelievers. Pray the Anima Christi or make a spiritual communion .

Also pray for believing, conscientious students, Dear Lord, may ___ be strong and courageous and get to work. May ___ not be frightened by the size of the task, for You, Lord God are with ____; You will not forsake ___. You will see that everything is finished correctly. (1 Chronicles 28:20)

FRIDAY - do penance, abstain, pray an act of contrition, pray the Stations of the Cross. Make these offerings in prayer for good companions for your children.

Almighty God, I pray that ___ will choose godly friends who will build ____up in You and that ____ will be kept from harmful friendships that will lead ___ astray (Ecclesiastes 4 :10;Proverbs 1:10)

SATURDAY - Blessed Virgin Mary's day, pray the Memorarae, pray a family rosary. Offer your children in consecration to Mary, our mother.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, help me in all my problems. Help me to attain and practice all the virtues so that I may become more like you. Show me how to train my children to be worthy children of God.

Let me be kind and loving, but keep me from foolish indulgence. Pray for my children, dear Mother. Pray they never lose their faith or leave Holy Mother Church. Keep them from all danger, especially from spiritual danger. Help them to become virtuous citizens of their country, but let them not forget the Kingdom of God.

Jesus of Bethlehem, make my children love each other and their home. Help them to work and pray together in holy peace. Holy family of Nazareth, be with us all, father, mother and children all the days of our lives. Help our home to be a “little Nazareth."

I humbly greet thee, faithful Guardian Angels of my children. I give thee heartfelt thanks for all the love and goodness you show them. Continue to watch over them. Provide for all their needs of body and soul. Pray also for me, my husband, and for my whole family, that we may all one day rejoice in thy blessed company in Heaven.

Blessed Mother Mary, guide us in our prayers for the vocations of our children. If their vocation be to the religious life, pray they answer quickly and faithfully. If their vocation be marriage, please protect and guide their future spouse. May they meet each other at the altar of God pure and undefiled.

Oh Mary, my Queen and my Mother, to Thee I confide the children God has entrusted to me. While they are young, provide for them safety of body, mind and heart. When I shall no longer be with them, when the responsibilities and greater temptations of life shall be theirs, pray dear Mother for them, keep them always close to your most loving heart. Be with my children when the angel of death hovers near. I beg Thee to take my children into eternity in the arms of Thy loving providence so that forever they may praise the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen. (as edited by Jenny)

This is a wonderful way to pray. I am going to write this out in my prayer journal.

This is beautiful. I use a small book titled "Dedicated Days: My Kingship is not of this World" which I purchased from Leaflet Missal company. It's very similar to your suggestions.

This is wonderful! I really like the idea of dedicating different days to different prayer intentions. Thank you, and God bless you today!

THis is a great idea - thanks. So often, my husband and kids say the same prayers for the evening prayer time (which my husband leads) & the kids rush through their intentions so quickly that it often sounds like mumbling. This is a great way to introduce them to new prayers and help keep their attention. I can type it out and make a schedule to put at our prayer table.

I made a couple of changes to the prayer for our children. Thank you Allison for these prayers and suggestions.

Paula - I will look for that book, thank you! I appreciate the recommendation for a book that is on this topic, providential!

Suzie - How blessed you are that your husband takes that role. I bet the kids will enjoy trying to remember what day is for what prayer.

Therese - I used to keep a prayer journal and I should do so again. Thanks for the motivation. Maybe you could post about yours? How you use it? What you put in it?

Wise and wonderful Jenny, I love you! These are amazing additions. How did I not see them before? I am editing the post to reflect these.

May the Holy Spirit continue to guide you.

Thank you for this prayer. Especially for our children. It seems like it is getting more hostile out in the world (or is it just me?)

We are so blessed to have our faith.
